On your left, just before Camden-Rockport Middle School, will be Lion's Lane. Turn left on to Lion's Lane. Stepping With The Stones is located on the left-hand side of Lion's Lane, after the school bus parking lot.
Now in its 18th year, Stepping With The Stones is unparalleled in its commitment to early childhood development. This well-known family has developed one of Maine's most academically progressive, holistic, precocious preschools, lead by a team of talented male and female educators and other staff. Our teachers create an environment that fosters strong academic learning and cognitive skills and social skills development in a fun and safe, challenging, and inclusive environment.
Our innovative preschool offers high quality early childhood education that builds self-confidence, interdependence, and a celebration of life. Every child is honored and respected. We grow each child uniquely! Differentiation is key at Stepping With The Stones. Stepping With The Stones teachers and staff give loving and caring attention to children. They nurture and grow children's potential through respect, peace skills, social skills, cooperation and love. Jerry and Bette Stone bring to their school a love for children that is truly unparalleled!
As founder and administrator Jerry Stone says, "At Stepping With The Stones children and families come first!" This understanding permeates all aspects of our preschool. Jerry and Bette Stone have devoted their lives to the care, development and well-being of children.
The husband-wife team of Jerry and Bette Stone has taught extensively in the local area: Jerry, as a public school teacher for 31 years, 17 in the service of Camden-Rockport Middle School; and Bette, as a teacher's assistant for more that a dozen years at the Children's House Montessori School. Jerry is also an ordained minister for over 40 years. He has pastored three churches. In addition, Jerry and Bette have led area day camps, church organizations, youth groups, and resident camps. They are joined at Stepping With The Stones by a dedicated and caring staff.
What a wonderful preschool you have, and what wonderful persons you both are! We are so fortunate to have found you and your precious learning center! Thank you for accepting us into your “family!” Thank you for enriching our son’s life and mine! We will miss you both.
